Tso Kar, also known as the White Lake, is situated about 155 kms away from Leh. The area surrounding Tso Kar is protected and forms the Tso Kar wild life sanctuary. The region is one of the three important wetlands of Ladakh and an ideal place for bird watchers. Brown-headed Gulls, Brahminy Ducks and Bar-headed Geese can be spotted here. Go past the Thanglang La to get to the salty Tso Kar. While you are at Tso Kar visit the nearby Thukje Monastery and Thujke village and the hot springs of Puga.
