Nasik is one of India’s fast growing cities with a pleasant climate and greenery all around. It is well known for good quality grapes. It is one of Maharashtra’s holy cities located on the banks of Godavari River. It is associated with the Epic Ramayana as the place where Lord Ram spent 14 years of his exile. Kumbh Mela is held here once in 12 years. It is a classic combination of industries and temples. Nasik is a part of the golden triangle of Maharashtra which consists of Mumbai, Pune and Nasik.

Summer is from March to May when the temperature rises up to 42 o C. Winter is from October to February with temperature dropping to 10 o C. December to February is a nice time to visit Nasik. If you are not religious avoid the Kumbh Mela season when you visit Nasik. Carry woolen and shawl in the winter and cotton clothes in summer.
All good hotels in Nasik accept international credit cards. Some hotels have currency exchange counters also. There are many ATMs in the city.
No permit is required to travel to Nasik. Just a visa to India is all what is needed.
Nasik can be accessed by train from Mumbai. It is a 4.5 hour journey by Panchavati express. Buses are also a good option. Buses run from Pune to Nasik which is 220 km distance. Vehicles are available from Mumbai and Pune to go to Nasik.
Panchavati is in the northern part of Nasik where river Godavari flows. It is believed to be the place from where Sita was abducted in the Ramayan
Ramkund is a bathing ghat where Lord Ram bathed. Lots of devotees come here for a holy dip.
Muktidhaam temple has splendid architecture. The white makrana marble has been carved intricately here.
Devlali camp which is a cantonment and a hill station with a cool climate is 16 km from Nasik.
Shirdi which is the abode of Sai Baba is about 100 km from Nasik.
Bhandardhara dam which is one of the highest dam and the oldest in Asia was built in 1926. It is 72 kms from Nasik. The area has a nice breezy weather. Accommodation provided by MTDC is also available.

Chivda made of puffed rice is a special snack of Nasik. Traditional Maharashtrian Cuisine can be relished at Hotel Saheba. Hotel Panchavati offers nice Thalis. The Emerald Park hotel has couple of good restaurants-Jharokha offers good Indian food and Dhruva has barbeque. Grapes and wine should also be tasted in Nasik.
