Naggar is a charming, peaceful village in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh whose main attraction is the imposing NaggarCastle. The village is surrounded by magnificent deodar forests and fruit orchards and here you can see the locals dressed in colourful traditional woolen clothing. Situated at the banks of the river Beas, Naggar is ideal for tourists looking to unwind on a holiday in the hills away from the hustle of the crowded hill stations like Shimla and Manali.

Sights: NaggarCastle: The striking NaggarCastle is the most popular tourist attraction here. Built in 1460 in typical Himachali style of architecture with stone and timber, the castle was converted into a heritage hotel in 1978. The castle also houses a small museum and a temple. The heritage offers some breath taking views of mountains and is the best place to stay in Naggar.
NicholasRoerichArtGallery: In the early 20th century, the Russian painter moved to Naggar. The house where Roerich lived is now converted into an art gallery with some brilliant works or art by Roerich. The Urusvati Himalayan Folk and Art Museum nearby houses the painter’s collection of family photos and artifacts.
The beautifully carved Vishnu Mandir, the pagoda style TripuraSundriTemples and the GauriShankarTemple are some temples in Naggar worth a visit.

Buses are available from Chandigarh, Kullu and Manali. The Bhuntar airport is the nearest airport and is a one-hour drive away.
