Mettupalayam is a small town in Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu. It sits on the foothills of the Nilgiri mountains. It lies on the banks of the river Bhavani.  It is a popular tourist destination in the South. Ooty, which is 40 km from Mettupalayam is a beautiful hill station. Mettupalayam is the junction from where one can take a toy train to Ooty. The city of Coimbatore is only 34 km by road from Mettupalayam.

Mettupalayam has a pleasant climate all around the year. The maximum summer temperature is 39°C while the minimum is 21°C. The summer lasts from April to June. The best time to visit Mettupalayam is from December to March. Cotton clothes for summers and light woolens for winters are recommended.
