Famous for its hiking and trekking trails, Kufri located about 20 kms away from Shimla is popular with adventure seekers and nature lovers. Kufri and the surrounding region was once a part of the Kingdom of Nepal until the area was ceded to the British Raj as part of the Sugauli Treaty. This region remained obscure from the rest of the world until the British 'discovered' it in 1819.
Kufri has a Himalyan Wild Life Zoo which hosts rare Antelopes and rare feline species. November to February is the peak season when tourist can enjoy skiing though the snow covered slopes. The skiing slopes range from a beginner’s run to advanced slopes for the more experienced. Himachal Tourism offers ski courses, instruction and also rents out skiing equipment.

Buses are available from Shimla, Narkanda, and Rampur to Kufri.You can also hire a taxi from Shimla to Kufri.
