Kathgodam is a small town in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand state of India and a part of the twin township of Haldwani-Kathgodam. It is the last station on the broad gauge line from Bareilly and is located about 35 kms from Nainital.
Lying at the foothills of the Himalayas, Kathgodam is an important rail terminus linked with Delhi, Howrah, Lucknow and Dehradun. The town is well connected by road to Nainital, Almora, Ranikhet and the other hilly areas of the Garhwal Himalayas that do not have rail links.
There is not much for tourists to see in Kathgodam except for the temples of ‘Sheetla devi' and 'Kalichaud' which attract large numbers of devotees from the surrounding region during festivals and mainly serves as a link between the plains and the upper Garhwal region.
