Jaipur experiences extreme temperatures. Summer is hot and humid. The temperature in summer reaches 45 deg Cent. Winter is very cold with temperatures going down to 5 deg cent. Jaipur, also known as Pink City, is the capital of Rajastan state. Generally, Amber is recommended as the first place to visit outside Jaipur. Amber was the ancient capital of Kachchwaha Rajputs. This is about 11 kms away from Jaipur. The tourists can enjoy the elephant rides from the base of the fort to the hill top. Once inside the fort, you come across many interesting buildings like Diwan-I-Aam, Ganesh Pol, Jai Mandir, Palace of Man Singh I, Raj Mahal, Shila Mata temple, Shish Mahal, Singh Pol, Sohag Mandir, Sukh Niwas, Suraj Pol etc.
Jaigarh Fort nearer to Nahargarh Fort is the proof of sophisticated water reservoirs built in ancient times to store and supply clean water to the city. This fort has one of the largest hand operated canons weighing around 50 tons and the fort is in good condition as it was never captured by the enemies.
Gaitor, which is 8 km away from Jaipur, has some impressive marble and sandstone chhattris built by Jai Singh II. Sisodia Rani ka Bagh, also about 8 km from Jaipur, is a garden palace with attractive gardens with mountains and watercourses.
People with interest in animals and birds, may visit Ranthambor National Tiger Park and Bhartpur bird sanctuary.

Jaipur is a very interesting historic city. There are many tourist attractions in the Old City and City Palace area. Beautiful blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture can be seen at City Palace.
City Palace is generally the first tourist place for the visitors. Royal family of Jaipur still lives in one part of the palace, while a part of the palace is converted into museum. Once inside the Palace one would appreciate the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Diwan-I-Aam, and Diwan-I-Khas.
Hawa Mahal is part of the wall of the City Palace complex to let the ladies of royal harem watch the royal possessions.
Jantar Mantar was built by Sawai Jai Singh between 1728 and 1734. This is the proof of the love of Sawai Jai Singh for astronomical science. They are Small 'Samrat', 'Dhruva', 'Narivalya', The Observer's Seat, 'Unnathamsa', 'Disha', 'Dakshina', 'Rashivalayas', 'Diganta', Large 'Kranti' etc.
Jal Mahal (or the Water Palace) is on the way to Sisodia Rani Garden. A Rajput style architectured palace sits in the center of the Maan-sarovar lake. The lake is often dry in the summer but winter monsoons frequently turn it into a beautiful lake filled with water hyacinths.
Jaigarh Fort. Never conquered in battle, this was considered the strongest of the three forts in the area. It is best known as the site of the world's largest cannon, the Jaivana, which was test-fired only once — according to legend, despite using only the half the design amount of gunpowder, the cannonball flew 35 km ! A better reason to visit the fort, though, are the scenic gardens at the other end and the spectacular views over the Amber Fort and the hills around
Next destination generally for the visitors is Nahargarh. Unfortunately, this fort is in ruins. However, the location offers a breath taking view of the surrounding places.
Other places worth visiting are Rambagh Palace, Kanak Valley, Laxmi Narayan Temple, also called the Birla Mandir and Sisodia Rani ka Bagh etc.
