Chitrakot, Central India

Introduction

The beautiful Chitrakot Waterfalls are located about 38 km to the west of Jagdalpur, The horseshoe shaped waterfall is created by the Indravati River(tributary of the Godavari River) and famously called the ‘Niagara of India'. The main attraction for travelers is the play of rainbow hues on the falls. The waterfalls are approximately 100 ft high. The horse-shoe shaped waterfall are best seen during and after the monsoon, between July and October.
Combine the trip with a visit to the famous Anthropological Museum, which provides an interesting insight into Bastar's tribal culture.
The drive to Chitrakot takes about an hour from Jagdalpur and taxis are available for hire.
