Bhojwasa, Uttaranchal

Introduction

Bhojwasa is the base point of Gaumukh glacier. (Gaumukh Glacier is the source of holy river Ganga). Gaumukh Glacier is just four kilometers ahead from Bhojwasa.  Bhojwasa is a ruggedly beautiful terrain.

Bhojwasa is a small town with one temple and a few houses. The temple advertises an aarti every evening, with a very scant gathering. The GVMN buildings are derelict and the only humanly habitable looking buildings are laboratories of the National Institute of Hydrology. People come here throughout the year mainly to take measurements on the glacier.

Weather And Best Time To Travel:
April to November is the best time to travel to this part of India.

Visa And Travel Permits:
All foreign visitors are required to carry a passport valid at least for the next 6 months. Special restrictions apply to Pakistani and Afghan nationals.
It is always advisable to make photocopies of important documents such as passport, visa and air tickets. They will be required in case the originals are lost.

How To Get There:
Tapovan is 24 Kms away from Gangotri, 300 kms from Haridwar .
Trekking
This is a trekking area and visitors can use the opportunity.

Where To Stay:

The GMVN tourist Bungalow provides accomadation to stay overnight.

Our Review:

Bhojwasa is mainly a tourist overnight stop to proceed towards Gaumukh Glacier.
