| The Oberoi family have been offering very comfortable, well-equipped self-catering apartments in this central neighbourhood for several years. Their latest venture is this lovingly renovated cottage, dating from 1915 and set in a walled garden. It's a wonderfully tranquil sanctuary from the madness of the city. Although four of the cottage's nine brightly painted and cutely decorated rooms do have small kitchens, this is more of a guesthouse than a self-catering venture. Guests take their breakfast (included in the rates) at the pergola beside the neatly clipped garden lawn. Antique-style furnishings are in the rooms, keeping faith with the heritage feel of the property. Air-con, cable TV, and wi-fi are the mod-cons available here, just as they are at the rest of the Oberoi's properties. Housekeeping is excellent and the staff couldn't be friendlier, particularly owner Benjamine who's always on hand with advice about how to get the best out of the city. | |
